荆禧在创作中乐于利用物质本身的性质来体现一种荒诞感，“荒诞”是她对世界的主要认知。在这个作品中，“冰做的蜡烛”本身就是一种矛盾的存在，这种矛盾在蜡烛没有点燃之前就已经有某种预示了。但是物质有自己的执着，火不会停止燃烧，冰也不会立即融化，于是两者必然相遇，冲突也必然产生。人看物质也许能判断出结果如何，但假如换作是人，我们能够判断自己吗？

Xi Jing is willing to use the nature of object itself to create a sense of absurdity in her works. Absurdity is her main cognition of the world. In this work, the "candle made of ice" itself is a kind of contradiction, which has been predicted before the candle is lit. But the object has its own persistence——fire will not stop burning, and the ice will not melt immediately, so the two things will inevitably meet and the conflict will inevitably arise. People may be able to predict the outcome beforehand if it is the case of object, but if in the case of human, can we also do the prediction?
