Untitled

Untitled, 2021

8:57 min, b&w and colour, sound

Double channel video

Untitled explores the relation between stillness and movement, time and narrative by using paired analog photographs connected by the effect of fading and videos of the same subject matter. Film making was developed out of photography by connecting 24 frames a second to make this illusion of moving-image. However, when we are looking at moving-image nowadays, we usually cannot differentiate between what is ‘reality’ and what is ‘constructed reality’. By watching the work slowly and making two split screens with the b&w photographs on the left and coloured video on the right, a comparison of the moving and still is created which indicates that we tend to neglect the fact that when we are looking at moving-image, it’s not reality but an illusion of movement consists of stillness.
